Matcha is a fine, vibrant green powder that is a speciality in Japan. The tea leaves are shaded for a majority of its growth period, de-stemmed, deveined and then ground into a very fine powder. Preparation includes vigorously whisking the powder with hot water until it becomes a silky beverage. Matcha can be enjoyed in a ceremonial way or as a culinary ingredient (like with milk, lemonade or baking).
