Reserve Lot Stunners from the Archive: Marlenis Imbachi

By Evan Howe

Marlenis Imbachi is a Colombian coffee producer whose farm is located near the charming town of San Agustín in the department of Huila. Marlenis’ delicious Pink Bourbon, with its delicate florality and juicy stone fruit notes, was hugely impressive when we first tasted it back in 2017 and Passenger has been honored to have the opportunity to purchase coffee from her farm ever since.

When selecting coffees for our most recent collection of Reserve Lot releases, we thought it would be special to re-release two distinct 2018 harvests, the first two lots we purchased from Marlenis, to make it possible to taste them alongside the 2019 and 2020 harvest selections from her farm that are also currently featured on our menu.

Shortly after these coffees arrived at Passenger’s roasting space back in 2018, they were placed in deep-freeze storage to indefinitely preserve their sweetness, acidity, and clean flavors for future enjoyment. Releasing our remaining small allotment of these coffees now, and offering them alongside two more recent harvests from the same small farm provides a rare opportunity to taste a unique reflection of time and place, and most importantly, recognize the consistently impressive achievement that Marlenis has achieved.
